Menopause for Reflexology

Perimenopause and menopause often occur at a time when our lives are becoming more stressful and complicated. Our 40’s and 50’s, are often when we are caring for elderly parents, children are entering teenage years or are leaving home to study, health issues arise for ourselves, partners, or friends, and relationships can end. All of this can make navigating the perimenopause and menopause more difficult.

I have recently completed a Reflexology for Menopause course. I decided to do this course as I have been through perimenopause and am now menopausal. I found this period of my life difficult. I lost a sense of myself; I became incredibly anxious and had incredibly low mood in the morning. My sleep pattern was disrupted, and I sometimes woke in the night covered in sweat. During perimenopause, I also had aching joints and found movement difficult at times. I did not get prescribe Hormone Replacement Therapy by the GP and they seem unwilling to do so.

Reflexology can prove helpful for people going through the perimenopause and menopause. Medical research* has discovered that cortisol levels can increase during perimenopause and menopause. This occurs because our oestrogen and progesterone levels decrease as we enter perimenopause. Excess cortisol can lead to us feeling more anxious and stressed. Reflexology can help reduce stress and promote relaxation.

The training I have completed has given me the knowledge and skills to support women going through the perimenopause and menopause. I offer reflexology sessions specifically tailored to the menopause. Additionally, I can assist you in assessing your overall wellbeing and identifying lifestyle changes that will enhance your wellbeing. Menopause for Reflexology sessions are longer than normal appointments as we will spend time discussing and reviewing your symptoms. I may also offer longer reflexology treatments depending on your symptoms.
